Here’s how you can join our 23/24 season
Option 1 : Attend Our Open Rehearsals

January 8th and 15th, from 7.15pm - 9.45pm
What to expect
Open rehearsals are a relaxed process where you participate as a choir member before deciding if you would like to audition with our Artistic Director.
We will issue a loan copy of music for the evening, you will participate in the full rehearsal from warm-ups through singing rep with us. If after participating you choose to audition that too is relaxed and no pressure. You will meet with our Artistic Director who will run a few scales and maybe a few bars from a well-known song like O Canada, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, or other tune that you feel comfortable with. There is no need to prepare, memorize or previously rehearse a song. Many times you will be told then and there if you are able to join the choir. In some years, if we have a high volume of applicants, you will be notified later via email.
Option 2: Submit Video (accepted year-round)
Please submit a video of yourself singing. It can be anything; 30 seconds of your favorite song or the whole song (any genre). Maybe you remember an alto line from a piece you sang years ago and want to submit that. If you haven't sung a piece in a while, record yourself singing vocal exercises and warm up that shows your vocal range and tone. Please introduce yourself and talk about your singing experience.

Our rehearsals:
Kantorei rehearses on Monday evenings 7:15 to 9:45 PM starting September and ending in May. We rehearse in the Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts on the mezzanine level (Room ED2102) of the Bella Concert Hall (18 Mount Royal Circle SW, Calgary, AB)
Other important dates:
October 2nd and 16th: Extra rehearsals for optional performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Calgary Civic Symphony (5.30pm - 6.45 / 5.30pm - 9.45pm)
October 22nd: Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Calgary Civic Symphony at the Jack Singer Concert Hall
November 13th: Dress rehearsal for Pro Arts Noon Hour Concert (7pm - 10pm)
November 15th: Pro Arts Noon Hour Concert at Cathedral Church of the Redeemer (11.50am - 12.50pm)
November 24th & 25th: Banff workshop and retreat
December 3rd, 4th & 9th: Rehearsals for Sounds of the Seasons (6pm, 7.15pm & 9am)
December 16th: Sounds of the Seasons at the Bella Concert Hall, (2 concerts: 1pm and 6.30pm)
April 17th - 21st: Kantorei Choral Festival 2024
June 1st: Illuminare: Kantorei’s end of season concert at the Bella Concert Hall (7pm)
